Agrippa said to Paul, “It is permitted for you to speak for yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his hand and began his defense.

I will speak of Your testimonies before kings, and never be ashamed.

Because you refused when I called, and did not pay attention when I stretched out my hand,

One who answers before listening— that is his folly and his shame.

The first to state his case seems just, until another comes and cross-examines him.

“So behold, I stretched out My hand over you. I diminished your ration. I gave you over to those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who were ashamed of your indecent conduct.

“Our Torah doesn’t judge a man unless it first hears from him and knows what he’s doing, does it?”

I answered them that it is not Roman practice to turn over anyone before the accused meets his accusers face to face and has an opportunity to make his defense concerning the charges.

For it seems illogical to me when sending a prisoner, not to report also the charges against him.”

But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a choice instrument to carry My name before nations and kings and Bnei-Yisrael.

But about Israel He says, “All day long I stretched forth My hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”
