He gives freely to the poor. His righteousness endures forever. His horn is lifted high in honor.

One who is kind to the poor lends to Adonai, and Adonai will reward him for his good deed.

Yeshua said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you own, and give to the poor; and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”

I say to you, make friends for yourselves from the wealth of the world, so when it runs out, they will welcome you into the eternal shelters.

When Yeshua heard this, He said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all, as much as you have, and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”

But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord. “Look, Master, half of my possessions I give to the poor, and if I have somehow cheated anyone, I repay four times as much!”

So the disciples decided to send relief to those brothers and sisters living in Judea, each according to his ability.

No one among them was needy, for all who were owners of lands or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds

and set them at the feet of the emissaries. And the proceeds were distributed according to the need each one had.

Now about this service to the kedoshim, it is indeed unnecessary for me to write to you—

As it is written, “He scattered widely, He gave to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.”

But if someone has material possessions and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
