So the king commanded that a box be made and placed outside the gate of the House of Adonai.

He sat down opposite the treasury and began watching how the people were putting money into the offering box. Many rich people were putting in a lot.

A proclamation was made throughout Judah and Jerusalem to bring in to Adonai the tax of Moses, God’s servant, upon Israel in the wilderness.
