For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
Then Adonai Elohim said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. Let Me make a well-matched helper for him.”
Adonai Elohim built the rib, which He had taken from the man, into a woman. Then He brought her to the man.
Then Adonai Elohim formed the man out of the dust from the ground and He breathed into his nostrils a breath of life—so the man became a living being.
God created humankind in His image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them.
To the woman He said, “I will greatly increase your pain from conception to labor. In pain will you give birth to children. Your desire will be toward your husband, yet he must rule over you.”
Now Adam named his wife Eve because she was the mother of all the living.
