But since we are of the day, let us be sober-minded—putting on the breastplate of faithfulness and love, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

Let your gentleness be known to all people. The Lord is near.

Come to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning! For some have no knowledge of God—I say this to your shame.

Therefore be alert, remembering that night and day for three years I did not stop warning you with tears.

“Happy are those slaves whose master finds them alert when he comes. Amen, I tell you, he will prepare himself and have them recline at table, and will come and serve them.

Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest who have no hope.

He died for us so that, whether we may be awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.
