They found rich and good pasture, and the land was spacious, quiet, and peaceful. The former inhabitants were Hamites.

Ham’s sons were Cush, Mizraim, Put and Canaan.

Now they went to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

Then Israel came into Egypt, Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

He struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, the firstfruits of their strength in the tents of Ham.
