The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their generations.

David organized them into divisions: The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.

son of Hashabiah, son of Amaziah, son of Hilkiah,

son of Zuph, son of Elkanah, son of Mahath, son of Amasai,

son of Elkanah, son of Jeroham, son of Eliel, son of Toah,

The sons of Uzziel: Micah the first and Isshiah the second.

Eleazar died having no sons but only daughters; the sons of Kish, their kinsmen, took them as wives.

To Merari belonged the families of the Mahlites and the Mushites. These were the families of Merari.

The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their clans.
