If anyone wants to sue yoʋ and take away yoʋr tunic, let him have yoʋr cloak also.
But I say to you, do not resist one who is evil. Rather, if anyone slaps yoʋ on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
And if anyone presses yoʋ into service for one mile, go with him two.
If anyone strikes yoʋ on one cheek, offer him the other also. If anyone takes away yoʋr cloak, do not withhold yoʋr tunic from him either.
As it is, to have lawsuits with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?
Now if any man thinks that he is acting improperly toward his virgin daughter by not letting her marry, if she is past the bloom of her youth and it seems necessary to do so, he should do what he wants. He is not sinning by letting her get married.
