Now the Pharisees and Sadducees came and tested Jesus, asking him to show them a sign from heaven.

And one of them, a lawyer, asked Jesus a question to test him:

Then some Pharisees came up to Jesus and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”

Later they sent to him some of the Pharisees and the Herodians, to trap him in his speech.

Should we give, or should we not give?” But knowing their hypocrisy, Jesus said to them, “Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.”

(They said this to test him, so that they might have something to accuse him of.) But Jesus stooped down and wrote with his finger on the ground, taking no notice.

Now to the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband

where your fathers tried me, tested me, and saw my works for forty years.
