As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax booth. Jesus said to him, “Follow me,” so Matthew rose and followed him.

As he was walking along, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth. Jesus said to him, “Follow me,” so Levi rose and followed him.

Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananite,

After this Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax booth. Jesus said to him, “Follow me,”

Simon (whom he also named Peter) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot (who became a traitor).

Then Thomas (called Didymus) said to his fellow disciples, “Let us go too, so that we may die with him.”

Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.

After entering the city, they went up to the upper room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, James, John, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.

When they had finished speaking, James replied, “Brothers, listen to me.

But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the brother of the Lord.

When James, Cephas, and John, who were esteemed as pillars of the church, recognized the grace given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, agreeing that we should go to the Gentiles and that they should go to the circumcised.

James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes who are scattered abroad: Greetings.
