The crowd responded to him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever, so how can yoʋ say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of Man’?”

Little children, I am with you for a little while longer. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, now I say to you also, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’

Nicodemus said to him, “How can a person be born when he is old? Can he enter the womb of his mother a second time and be born?”

In response Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?”

Then the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

Then the Jews began to quarrel with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

After hearing this, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard saying; who can accept it?”

You will seek me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come.”

Then Jesus said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, but you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”

The natural man does not accept what comes from the Spirit of God, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it because it is spiritually discerned.
