Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:

A deacon must be the husband of one wife and must lead his children and his own household well.

Therefore the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, sensible, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for sordid gain, but gentle, not contentious, and not a lover of money.

(No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for the sake of yoʋr stomach and yoʋr frequent illnesses.)

For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for sordid gain,

Elderly women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderous or enslaved to much wine, but teaching what is good,

Out of the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, this ought not to be so.

Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly; not for sordid gain, but eagerly.
