And Asa called to יהוה his Elohim, and said, “יהוה, there is no one but You to help between the mighty and the powerless. Help us, O יהוה our Elohim, for we rest on You, and in Your Name we go against this crowd. O יהוה, You are our Elohim, do not let man prevail against You!”

“Were the Kushites and the Luḇim not a mighty army with very many chariots and horsemen? And because you relied on יהוה, He gave them into your hand.

And I said, “Should a man like me flee? And who is there like me who would go into the Hĕḵal to save his life? I do not go in!”

Guard me, O Ěl, for I have taken refuge in You.

Bĕt O my Elohim, in You I have put my trust; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies exult over me.

But I, I have put my trust in You, O יהוה; I have said, “You are my Elohim.”

In Elohim I have trusted; I do not fear; What could man do to me?

O יהוה my Elohim, in You I have taken refuge; Save me from all my pursuers; And deliver me,

Lest they tear at my throat like a lion, Rending in pieces, with no one to deliver.

And those who know Your Name trust in You, For You have not forsaken those who seek You, O יהוה.

Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hunter’s hand, And like a bird from the hand of the trapper.

“How do you say, ‘We are mighty and strong men for battle’?

On the same day there came certain Pharisees, saying to Him, “Get out and go from here, for Herodes wishes to kill You.”

And Sha’ul sent messengers to Dawiḏ’s house to watch him and to put him to death in the morning. And Miḵal, Dawiḏ’s wife, informed him, saying, “If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you are put to death.”

And Yehonathan shouted after the youth, “Make haste, hurry, do not stand still!” And Yehonathan’s youth picked up the arrows and came to his master.

And Dawiḏ went from there to Mitspeh of Mo’aḇ and said to the sovereign of Mo’aḇ, “Please let my father and mother come here with you, till I know what Elohim does for me.”

And Dawiḏ remained in the wilderness, in strongholds, and remained in the hill country in the Wilderness of Ziph. And Sha’ul sought him every day, but Elohim did not give him into his hand.

And Dawiḏ said in his heart, “Now I shall perish by the hand of Sha’ul, some day. There is naught better for me than to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Sha’ul shall give up searching for me any longer in any part of Yisra’ĕl, and I shall escape out of his hand.”
