He who reproves a scoffer gets shame for himself, And he who rebukes a wrong one gets himself a blemish.

And it came to be, when Aḥaḇ saw Ěliyahu, that Aḥaḇ said to him, “Is that you, O disturber of Yisra’ĕl?”

And Aḥaḇ said to Ěliyahu, “Have you found me, O my enemy?” And he answered, “I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do evil in the eyes of יהוה:

And Tsiḏqiyahu son of Kena‛anah came near and struck Miḵayehu on the cheek, and said, “Where did the spirit of יהוה pass over from me to speak to you?”

and say, ‘Thus said the sovereign, “Put this one in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction until I come in peace.” ’ ”

But they were mocking the messengers of Elohim and despising His words and scoffing at His prophets, until the wrath of יהוה arose against His people, until there was no healing.

Look, blessed is the man whom Eloah does reprove, so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.

A wise son accepts his father’s discipline, But a scoffer shall not listen to rebuke.

A scoffer does not love his reprover, Nor does he go to the wise.

Do not speak in the ears of a fool, For he treads on the wisdom of your words.

But they were silent and answered him not a word, for the command of the sovereign was, “Do not answer him.”
