If He sets His heart on him, should He gather to Himself his spirit and his breath,

in whose hand is the life of all that live, and the breath of all mankind?

What is man, that You should make him great, that You should set Your heart on him,

Wise in heart and potent of power – who has hardened himself against Him and is at peace?

You hide Your face, they are alarmed; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust;

You turn man back to dust, And say, “Return, O children of men.”

and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to Elohim who gave it.

And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and be punished after many days.
