My days have passed by, my plans have been broken off – the desires of my heart.
“My spirit has been broken, my days have been extinguished, burial-sites are for me.
They would turn night into day, saying that light is near, in the presence of darkness!
My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without expectancy.
To man belongs the preparations of the heart, But from יהוה is the answer of the tongue.
A man’s heart plans his way, But יהוה establishes his steps.
Many are the plans in a man’s heart, But it is the counsel of יהוה that stands.
All that your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom in She’ol where you are going.
I said, “Am I to go into the gates of She’ol in the prime of my life? Shall I be deprived of the rest of my years?”
“Take counsel, and it comes to naught; speak a word, and it does not stand, for Ěl is with us.”
Who was it that spoke, And it came to be! Has יהוה not commanded it?
And I do not wish you to be unaware, brothers, that I often purposed to come to you, but was hindered until now, in order to have some fruit among you, as also among the other nations.
