But you smear with falsehood, worthless healers, all of you!

The proud have forged a lie against me, With all my heart I observe Your orders.


Is there no balm in Gil‛aḏ, is there no healer there? Why has the healing of the daughter of my people not come?


“And they heal the breach of My people slightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.


and had suffered much from many physicians, and spent all that she had and was no better, but rather became worse.


And hearing this, יהושע said to them, “Those who are strong have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners.”


“When Ephrayim saw his sickness, and Yehuḏah saw his wound, then Ephrayim went to Ashshur and sent to Sovereign Yarĕḇ. But he is unable to heal you, or to remove the wound from you.


“You have not strengthened the weak, nor have you healed the sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back the straying, nor sought what was lost; but you have ruled them with might and harshness.


Go up to Gil‛aḏ and take balm, O maiden, the daughter of Mitsrayim. In vain you have used many remedies, there is no healing for you.


No one pleads your cause, to bind up. There are no healing medicines for you.


“See, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” declares יהוה, “and relate them, and lead My people astray by their falsehoods and by their reckless boasting. But I Myself did not send them nor have I commanded them. And they do not profit this people at all,” declares יהוה.


“I have heard many matters like these; all of you are comforters of trouble!


Indeed, you have now become the same! You see my downfall and are afraid.


“You do not bear false witness against your neighbour.


Then I sent to him, saying, “There are no such matters done as you are saying, but you are inventing them in your own heart.”


My brothers are as undependable as a wadi, as a bed on which streams once ran,


They were ashamed because they had trusted, they came there and were disappointed.


See, all of you have seen it. Why then are you altogether vain?
