To Qĕḏar and to the reigns of Ḥatsor, which Neḇuḵaḏretstsar sovereign of Baḇel struck: Thus said יהוה, “Arise, go up to Qĕḏar, and ravage the men of the East!

And these were the names of the sons of Yishma‛ĕl, by their names, according to their generations: The first-born of Yishma‛ĕl, Neḇayoth; then Qĕḏar, and Aḏbe’ĕl, and Miḇsam,

but to the sons of the concubines whom Aḇraham had, Aḇraham gave gifts while he was still living, and sent them away from his son Yitsḥaq, eastward, to the land of the east.

These are their genealogies: The first-born of Yishma‛ĕl was Neḇayoth, and Qĕḏar, and Aḏbe’ĕl, and Miḇsam,

And his possessions were seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred female donkeys, and a very large body of servants, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.

Woe to me for I have sojourned in Mesheḵ, I have dwelt among the tents of Qĕḏar!

I am dark, but lovely, O daughters of Yerushalayim, Like the tents of Qĕḏar, Like the curtains of Shelomoh.

But they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines toward the west; together they plunder the people of the east, their hand stretching forth on Eḏom and Mo’aḇ, and the children of Ammon shall be subject to them.

The message concerning Araḇia. In the forest in Araḇia you stay, O you travelling companies of Deḏanites.

Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice, the villages where Qĕḏar dwells. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

“For, pass beyond the isles of Kittim and see, and send to Qĕḏar and observe well, and see if there has been any like this.

Deḏan, and Tĕma, and Buz, and all who are in the farthest corners;

and all the sovereigns of Araḇia and all the sovereigns of the mixed multitude who dwell in the wilderness;

I have heard a report from יהוה, and an envoy has been sent to the nations, “Gather together, come against her, and rise up to battle!

"Ḥatsor shall be a habitation for jackals, a desert forever. No one dwells there, nor does son of man sojourn in it.”

“Araḇia, and all princes of Qĕḏar, were merchants for you. In lambs, and rams, and goats they were your merchants.

And it came to be, whenever Yisra’ĕl had sown, that Miḏyan would come up, and Amalĕq and the people of the East would come up against them,
