He was more esteemed than the thirty, but he did not come to the first three. And Dawiḏ set him over his guard.
Now Yo’aḇ was over all the army of Yisra’ĕl, and Benayah son of Yehoyaḏa was over the Kerĕthites and the Pelĕthites,
This is what Benayahu son of Yehoyaḏa did, and had a name among three mighty men.
Asah’ĕl the brother of Yo’aḇ was one of the thirty; Elḥanan son of Doḏo of Bĕyth Leḥem,
And from Betaḥ and from Bĕrothai, cities of Haḏaḏezer, Sovereign Dawiḏ took very much bronze.
This was the Benayahu who was mighty among the thirty, and was over the thirty, and in his division was Ammizaḇaḏ his son.
Although one might be overpowered, two withstand him. And a threefold cord is not readily broken.
And Aḥimeleḵ answered the sovereign and said, “And who among all your servants is so trustworthy as Dawiḏ, who is the sovereign’s son-in-law, and has turned aside to your counsel, and is esteemed in your house?
