And Dawiḏ called him, and he ate and drank before him, and he made him drunk. And at evening he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his master, but he did not go down to his house.
But Uriyah lay down at the door of the sovereign’s house with all the servants of his master, and did not go down to his house.
And Aḇshalom said, “If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us.” And the sovereign said to him, “Why should he go with you?”
And Mosheh said to Aharon, “What did this people do to you that you have brought so great a sin upon them?”
Wine is a scoffer, strong drink a brawler, And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who feels hurt without cause? Who has redness of eyes?
“Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbour, pouring out your wineskin, and also making him drunk – in order to look on their nakedness!
