And he made offerings on the slaughter-place which he had made at Bĕyth Ěl on the fifteenth day of the eighth new moon, in the new moon which he had devised in his own heart. And he performed a festival for the children of Yisra’ĕl, and offered on the slaughter-place and burned incense.
And it came to be, after he had buried him, that he spoke to his sons, saying, “When I am dead, then you shall bury me in the burial-site where the man of Elohim is buried. Lay my bones beside his bones.
After this event Yaroḇ‛am did not turn from his evil way, but again he made priests from all sorts of people for the high places. Whoever wished, he ordained, to become one of the priests of the high places.
And it came to be, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they did not fear יהוה, and יהוה sent lions among them, which were killing among them.
But every nation was making mighty ones of its own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Shomeronim had made, every nation in the cities where they dwelt.
So these nations were fearing יהוה, and served their carved images, both their children and their children’s children. As their fathers did, they are doing to this day.
And Yoshiyahu also took away all the houses of the high places that were in the cities of Shomeron, which the sovereigns of Yisra’ĕl had made to provoke. And he did to them according to all the deeds he did in Bĕyth Ěl.
they came to Zerubbaḇel and the heads of the fathers’ houses and said to them, “Let us build with you, for we seek your Elohim as you do. And we have slaughtered to Him since the days of Ěsarḥaddon sovereign of Ashshur, who brought us here.”
