and Sovereign Yeho’ash called Yehoyaḏa the priest and the other priests, and said to them, “Why have you not strengthened the breaches of the House? And now, do not take any more silver from your friends, but give it for the breaches of the House.”
And he gathered the priests and the Lĕwites, and said to them, “Go out to the cities of Yehuḏah, and gather from all Yisra’ĕl silver to repair the House of your Elohim from year to year, and see that you hurry the matter.” But the Lĕwites did not hurry it.
Only, the priests were too few, and were unable to skin all the ascending offerings, so their brothers the Lĕwites helped them until the work was completed and until the other priests had set themselves apart, for the Lĕwites were more upright of heart to set themselves apart, than the priests.
“Who among you who would shut the doors, so that you would not kindle fire on My slaughter-place for naught? I have no pleasure in you,” said יהוה of hosts, “Nor do I accept an offering from your hands.
