And it came to be, in the morning, that he went out and stood, and said to all the people, “You are righteous. Look, I conspired against my master and killed him, but who struck all these?
And he wrote a second letter to them, saying, If you are for me, and if you obey my voice, take the heads of the men, your master’s sons, and come to me at Yizre‛ĕl by this time tomorrow. Now the sovereign’s sons, seventy beings, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up.
Then a messenger came and informed him, saying, “They have brought the heads of the sovereign’s sons.” And he said, “Make them two heaps at the entrance of the gate until morning.”
For Yozaḵar son of Shim‛ath and Yehozaḇaḏ son of Shomĕr, his servants, struck him. So he died, and they buried him with his fathers in the City of Dawiḏ. And Amatsyah his son reigned in his place.
And יהוה said to him, “Call his name Yizre‛ĕl, for in a little while I shall revenge the bloodshed of Yizre‛ĕl on the house of Yĕhu, and put an end to the reign of the house of Yisra’ĕl.
“Look, here I am. Witness against me before יהוה and before His anointed: Whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I oppressed? Whom have I abused, or from whose hand have I received any bribe with which to blind my eyes? – then I restore it to you.”
