and that they should guard the duty of the Tent of Appointment, the duty of the set-apart place, and the duty of the sons of Aharon their brothers in the service of the House of יהוה.
All those chosen as gatekeepers at the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. They were registered by genealogy, in their villages. Dawiḏ and Shemu’ĕl the seer had appointed them to their office of trust.
Both the singers and the gatekeepers guarded the charge of their Elohim and the charge of the cleansing, according to the command of Dawiḏ and Shelomoh his son.
