Show me favour, O יהוה, for I am in distress; My eye, my being and my body have become old with grief!
My eye has grown dim because of grief; It grows old because of all my adversaries.
My eye grows dim because of affliction. יהוה, I have called upon You, all day long; I have stretched out my hands to You.
My flesh and my heart shall waste away, But Elohim is the rock of my heart And my portion forever.
Because of this our heart has been sick, Because of these our eyes have become dim,
While we exist, our eyes are consumed, Watching vainly for our help. In our watch-tower we watched for a nation That could not save.
Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, Bound in affliction and irons,
For I am plagued all day long, And my reproof is every morning.
That which my lips have uttered And my mouth spoke in my distress.
For our being is bowed down to the dust; Our body cleaves to the earth.
And from sorrow my eye has grown dim, and all my members are like shadows.
“And He brought me out into a large place, He delivered me for He delighted in me.
יהוה rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He repaid me.
I pursue my enemies and overtake them; And do not turn back till they are destroyed.
