As charcoal is to burning coals, and wood to fire, So is a contentious man to kindle strife.
And there came to be a man of Beliyaʽ
And it came to be when all Yisra’ĕ
Sharp arrows of a mighty man, With coals of the broom-wood!
Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all transgressions.
A man of wrath stirs up strife, But he who is patient appeases strife.
A man of displeasure stirs up strife, And a master of rage has many a transgression.
For as milk under pressure brings forth curds, And as a nose under pressure brings forth blood, So wrath under pressure brings forth strife.
