But there were men who were defiled for a being of a man, so that they were not able to perform the Passover on that day. So they came before Mosheh and Aharon that day,

And Mosheh said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to seek Elohim.

“Now listen to my voice. Let me counsel you and Elohim be with you: Stand before Elohim for the people, and you shall bring the matters to Elohim.

And they rightly ruled the people at all times – the hard matters they brought to Mosheh, but they rightly ruled every small matter themselves.

nor come near any dead body, nor defile himself for his father or his mother,

And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Mosheh and to Aharon, and to all the congregation.

‘He who touches the dead of any human being is unclean for seven days.

‘This is the Torah when a man dies in a tent: All who come into the tent and all who are in the tent are unclean for seven days,

‘Anyone in the open field who touches someone slain by a sword or who has died, or a bone of a man, or a grave, is unclean for seven days.

‘And a clean man shall take hyssop and dip it in the water, and shall sprinkle it on the tent, and on all the vessels, and on the beings who were there, or on the one who touched a bone, or the slain, or the dead, or a grave.

And they stood before Mosheh, and before Elʽ

Mosheh then brought their case before יהוה.

“Command the children of Yisra’ĕ

and those men said to him, “We are defiled for the being of a man. Why are we withheld from bringing near the offering of יהוה  at its appointed time among the children of Yisra’ĕ

Then they led יהושע  from Qayapha to the palace, and it was early. And they themselves did not go into the palace, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.
