“Then Aharon shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and shall confess over it all the crookednesses of the children of Yisra’ĕ

And while Ezra was praying, and while he was confessing, weeping, and bowing down before the House of Elohim, a very large assembly – men and women and children – gathered unto him from Yisra’ĕ

I acknowledged my sin to You, And my crookedness I did not hide. I have said, “I confess my transgressions to יהוה,” And You forgave the crookedness of my sin. Selah.

For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me.

“And you shall bring near the bull before the Tent of Meeting, and Aharon and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the bull.

He who hides his transgressions does not prosper, But he who confesses and forsakes them finds compassion.

We all, like sheep, went astray, each one of us has turned to his own way. And יהוה  has laid on Him the crookedness of us all.

‘And he shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him.

“And when he has finished atoning for the Set-apart Place, and the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat.

“And the goat shall bear on itself all their crookednesses, to a land cut off. Thus he shall send the goat away into the wilderness.

‘But if they confess their crookedness and the crookedness of their fathers, with their trespass in which they trespassed against Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me,

‘And it shall be, when he is guilty of one of these, that he shall confess that in which he has sinned,

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, and so is saved.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of Elohim.
