And יהוה said to Giḏ
The sovereign is not saved by the multitude of an army; A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
But יהוה said to Shemu’ĕ
For He knows the way that I take. When He has tried me, I would come forth as gold.
And Yehonathan said to the young man who bore his armour, “Come, and let us go over to the outpost of these uncircumcised. If so be, יהוה does work for us. For there is no hindrance for יהוה to save by many or by few.”
For You, O Elohim, have proved us; You have refined us as silver is refined.
Please let the evil of the wrong be ended, And establish the righteous; For the righteous Elohim is a trier of hearts and kidneys.
And it came to be after these events that Elohim tried Aḇ
So he brought the people down to the water. And יהוה said to Giḏ
