For I do not know how to flatter, lest my Maker should soon take me away!
He who denounces friends for a share, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
Please, let me not show partiality to anyone, nor let me flatter any man.
“And yet, O Iyoḇ
My words are from the uprightness of my heart, my lips shall speak knowledge clearly.
‘Is mortal man more righteous than Eloah? Is man more clean than his Maker?
He who reproves a man finds more favour afterward Than he who flatters with the tongue.
A man who flatters his neighbour Spreads a net for his own feet.
For do I now persuade men, or Elohim? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I should not be a servant of Messiah.
For we never came with a word of flattery, as you know, nor with a cloak for greed – Elohim is witness –
