And I broke the jaws of the perverse, and snatched the prey from his teeth.
Then I thought I would die in my nest, and increase my days as the sand,
And he is reproved with pain on his bed, and with unceasing distress in his bones,
An old lion perishes for lack of prey, and the cubs of the lioness are scattered.
But He saves the needy from the sword of their mouth, from the clutches of the strong.
“Then they would have swallowed us alive, In their burning rage against us;
Blessed be יהוה, Who did not give us as prey to their teeth.
Arise, O יהוה ; Save me, O my Elohim! Because You have smitten all my enemies on the cheek; You have broken the teeth of the wrong.
Like a snail which melts away as it moves, Like a woman’s stillbirth, Let them not see the sun!
There is a generation whose teeth are swords, And whose jaw-teeth are knives, To devour the poor from off the earth, And the needy from among men.
I went out after it and smote it, and rescued it from its mouth. And when it rose against me, I caught it by its beard, and smote it and killed it.
