I have become a laughing-stock to my friends – one who has called on Eloah and He answered him! A laughing-stock is the righteous, the perfect one!

Should your babblings silence men? And should you mock, and no one make you ashamed?

A lamp is despised in the thought of one who is at ease – prepared for those whose feet slip.

Look, please, I have prepared my case, I know that I am in the right.

They open wide their mouths at me, in scorn they have smitten my cheeks, they mass themselves together against me.

My friends are they that scorn me; my eyes pour out tears to Eloah.

Truly, mockeries are with me, and my eye rests on their insults!

But He has made me a byword of the people, whereas in former times I was as a drum.

Bear with me and let me speak, and after I have spoken, keep mocking.

“But now they laugh at me, those younger than I, whose fathers I would have refused to put with my sheep dogs.

And now I have become their song, and I am a byword to them.

Relent, please, let there be no unrighteousness. Relent! My righteousness is still in it.

Am I perfect? Do I not know my own being? I despise my life!

With unclean ones, mockers at feasts, Gnashing at me with their teeth.

“When he calls on Me, I answer him; I am with him in distress; I deliver him and esteem him.

He who walks in his straightness fears יהוה, But he whose ways are crooked despises Him.

O יהוה, You enticed me, and I was enticed. You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I have been ridiculed all day long, everyone mocks me.

‘Call unto Me, and I shall answer you, and show you great and inaccessible matters, which you have not known.’

As for me, I look to יהוה, I wait for the Elohim of my deliverance, my Elohim does hear me.

And plaiting a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they kneeled down before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Greetings, Sovereign of the Yehuḏ

He said to them, “Go back, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they laughed at Him.

And they were laughing at Him. And when He had put them all out, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and went in where the child was lying.

And the Pharisees, who loved silver, also heard all this, and were sneering at Him,

And hearing of the resurrection of the dead, some indeed mocked, while others said, “We shall hear you again concerning this.”

And others had trial of mockings and floggings and more, of chains and imprisonment.
