Let a cry be heard from their houses, when You bring a raiding party suddenly upon them. For they have dug a pit to take me, and laid snares for my feet.

and that nation shall turn from its evil because I have spoken against it, then I shall repent of the evil that I thought to do to it.

O my inward parts, my inward parts! I am in pain! O the walls of my heart! My heart pounds in me, I am not silent. For you have heard, O my being, the sound of the ram’s horn, a shout of battle!

And the crookedness of the daughter of my people Is greater than the punishment of the sin of Seḏ

“In his right hand shall be the divination for Yerushalayim: to set up battering rams, to call for a slaughter, to lift the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to heap up a siege mound, to build a wall.

And uproar shall arise among your people, and all your strongholds shall be ravaged as Shalman ravaged Bĕ

“How could I give you up, Ephrayim? How could I hand you over, Yisra’ĕ

“From the power of the grave I ransom them, from death I redeem them. Where is your plague, O Death? Where is your destruction, O Grave? Repentance is hidden from My eyes.

“So I shall kindle a fire upon the wall of Rabbah, and it shall consume its palaces, with a shout in the day of battle, with a storm in the day of the whirlwind.

“But I shall send fire upon Mo’aḇ

“I have overthrown some of you, as Elohim overthrew Seḏ

And Yonah began to go in to the city on the first day’s walk. And he cried out and said, “Yet forty days, and Ninewĕ

And he prayed to יהוה, and he said, “Please, יהוה, was this not what I said while I was in my own land? This is why I went ahead and fled to Tarshish. For I know that You are an Ě

a day of ram’s horn and alarm – against the walled cities and against the corner towers.

“Therefore, as I live,” declares יהוה  of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra’ĕ

but on the day Lot went out of Seḏ

“And the generation to come of your children who rise up after you, and the foreigner who comes from a far land, shall say when they see the plagues of that land and the sicknesses which יהוה  has sent into it:

‘All its land is sulphur, salt, and burning; it is not sown, nor does it bear, nor does any grass grow there, like the overthrow of Seḏ

and having reduced to ashes the cities of Seḏ
