“I shall set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.

Have you ever commanded the morning, and caused the dawn to know its place,

O יהוה, our Master, how excellent is Your Name in all the earth, You who set Your splendour above the heavens!

For I see Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have established.

“Thus said יהוה, ‘If you could break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there be not day and night in their season,

“Thus said יהוה, ‘If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the laws of the heavens and earth,

“For so the Master has commanded us, ‘I have set you to be a light to the gentiles, that you should be for deliverance to the ends of the earth.’ ”
