“But I acted for My Name’s sake, that it should not be profaned before the eyes of the gentiles among whom they were – before whose eyes I had made Myself known to them, to bring them out of the land of Mitsrayim.

But Mosheh pleaded with יהוה  his Elohim, and said, “יהוה, why does Your wrath burn against Your people whom You have brought out of the land of Mitsrayim with great power and with a strong hand?

“Why should the Mitsrites speak, and say, ‘For evil He brought them out to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from the heat of Your wrath, and relent from this evil to Your people.

“For My own sake, for My own sake, I do it. For how is it profaned? And My esteem I do not give to another.

“But I acted for My Name’s sake, not to profane it before the gentiles, before whose eyes I had brought them out.

“But I held back My hand and acted for My Name’s sake, not to profane it before the eyes of the gentiles, before whose eyes I had brought them out.

“And I shall make My set-apart Name known in the midst of My people Yisra’ĕ

lest the land from which You brought us should say, “Because יהוה  was not able to bring them to the land which He promised them, and because He hated them, He has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.”

“For we have heard how יהוה  dried up the water of the Sea of Reeds for you when you came out of Mitsrayim, and what you did to the two sovereigns of the Amorites who were beyond the Yardĕ

“For יהוה  would not cast away His people, for His great Name’s sake, seeing it has pleased יהוה  to make you His people.

“Woe to us! Who shall deliver us from the hand of these mighty Elohim? These are the Elohim who smote the Mitsrites with all the plagues in the wilderness.
