And the people thirsted there for water, and the people grumbled against Mosheh, and said, “Why did you bring us out of Mitsrayim, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?”

Better off were those pierced by the sword Than those pierced by hunger; For these pine away, Pierced through for lack of the fruits of the field.

“In the morning you say, ‘Oh, that it were evening!’ And at evening you say, ‘Oh, that it were morning!’ because of the fear of your heart, with which you fear, and because of the sight which your eyes see.

“And did not they say, ‘Where is יהוה, who brought us up out of the land of Mitsrayim, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and pits, through a land of drought and the shadow of death, a land that no one passed through and where no one dwelt?’

And all the children of Yisra’ĕ

You are already satisfied! You are already enriched! You have reigned as sovereigns, apart from us! And I wish, indeed, you did reign, that we also might reign with you!

And Yehoshua said, “Oh Master יהוה, why have You brought this people over the Yardĕ

I wish that you would bear with me in a little folly. But indeed, you are bearing with me.

And Sha’ul said, “Much or little, I pray to Elohim that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become such as I also am, except for these chains.”

Why does He give light to the sufferer, and life to the bitter of being,

For it did not shut up the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hide trouble from my eyes.

And the sovereign was shaken, and went up to the room over the gate, and wept. And as he went, he said this, “O my son Aḇ

“And He humbled you, and let you suffer hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, to make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but by every Word that comes from the mouth of יהוה.

But all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕ

“Is it little that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you would also seize total rule over us?

“And if You are doing this to me, please slay me altogether, if I have found favour in Your eyes, and let me not see my evil!”

And they said to them, “Let יהוה  look on you and judge, because you have made us loathsome in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of his servants, to give a sword in their hand to kill us.”

And it came to be after these many days that the sovereign of Mitsrayim died. And the children of Yisra’ĕ

“And why is יהוה  bringing us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become a prey? Would it not be better for us to turn back to Mitsrayim?”

And they spoke against Elohim. They said, “Is Ě

Men ate bread of the mighty; He sent them provisions to satisfaction.

saying, ‘No, but we are going to the land of Mitsrayim so that we see no fighting, nor hear the sound of the ram’s horn, nor hunger for bread, and there we shall stay,’

“But we shall do whatever has gone out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the sovereigness of the heavens and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our sovereigns and our heads, in the cities of Yehuḏ

And they said to Mosheh, “Did you take us away to die in the wilderness because there are no graves in Mitsrayim? What is this you have done to us, to bring us up out of Mitsrayim?

but for a month of days, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes an abomination to you, because you have rejected יהוה  who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, “Why did we come up out of Mitsrayim?” ’ ”

And the people spoke against Elohim and against Mosheh, “Why have you brought us up out of Mitsrayim to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our being loathes this light bread.”

Hungry and thirsty, Their being in them grew faint.
