“To them I answered, ‘It is not the Roman practice to give up any man to destruction before the accused meets the accusers face to face, and has a chance to answer for himself concerning the charge against him.’

And it came to be, when his master heard the words which his wife spoke to him, saying, “Your servant did to me according to these words,” that his displeasure burned.

He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him.

The first to state his own case, seems right, Until another comes and examines him.

“And when they bring you to the congregations and rulers and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say,

“Does our Torah judge the man unless it hears first from him and knows what he is doing?”
