For we do not presume to count ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

“Truly you are the people, and wisdom would die with you!

It is not good to eat much honey. Is it esteem to seek one’s own esteem?

Have you seen a man wise in his own eyes? There is more expectancy for a fool than for him.

Let another man praise you, And not your own mouth – A stranger, and not your own lips.

“The Pharisee stood and began to pray with himself this way, ‘Elohim, I thank You that I am not like the rest of men, swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

For I shall not presume to speak of any matter except what Messiah has worked out through me, in word and deed, to make the gentiles obedient,

Let such a one take this into account, that what we are in word by letters when absent, such we are also in deed when we are present.

For not he who commends himself is approved, but he whom the Master commends.

Are we to begin to recommend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some, letters of recommendation to you, or from you?

For we do not again commend ourselves to you, but give you an occasion to boast on our behalf, in order that you have an answer for those who take pride in appearance and not in heart.
