but you have done more evil than all who were before you, for you have gone and made for yourself other mighty ones and moulded images to provoke Me, and have cast Me behind your back –

And he did evil, because he did not prepare his heart to seek יהוה.
For they enraged Him with their high places, And moved Him to jealousy with their carved images.
And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה, according to all that Yehoyaqim had done.
“But they did not obey Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did evil, more than their fathers.
Do we provoke the Master to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
‘And יהוה uprooted them from their land in displeasure, and in wrath, and in great rage, and cast them into another land, as it is today.’
“For יהוה your Elohim is a consuming fire, a jealous Ě
