But he who is married is concerned about the matters of the world – how to please his wife.

And He said to His taught ones, “For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you shall eat; nor about the body, what you shall put on.

“And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and because of this I am unable to come.’

“Now the hireling flees because he is a hireling and is not concerned about the sheep.

Let the husband render to his wife what is her due, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

And I wish you to be without concern. He who is unmarried is concerned about the matters of the Master – how to please the Master.

There is a difference between a wife and a maiden. The unmarried woman is concerned about the matters of the Master, that she might be set-apart both in body and in spirit. But she who is married is concerned about the matters of the world – how to please her husband.

Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.

And if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the belief and is worse than an unbeliever.

In the same way, husbands, live understandingly together, giving respect to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the favour of life, so that your prayers are not hindered.
