Declare them guilty, O God! Let their own schemes be their downfall! Let the guilt of their sins collapse on top of them, for they rebel against you.

Break the power of the wicked and all their strong-arm tactics. Search them out and destroy them for the evil things they’ve done.

For we rebelled against God’s Word and rejected the wise counsel of God Most High.

Arise, God, and confront them! Challenge them with your might! Free me from their clutches and rescue me from their rage.

At last their lying lips will be muted in their graves. For they are arrogant, filled with contempt and conceit as they speak against the godly.

In spite of all that, Lord, our God, you are filled with compassion and overflow with forgiveness, even though we have openly rebelled against you.

For what the world says is wisdom is actually foolishness in God’s eyes. As it is written: The cleverness of the know-it-alls becomes the trap that ensnares them.
