We live our lives like those living in shadows. All our activities and energies are spent for things that pass away. We gather, we hoard, we cling to our things, only to leave them all behind for who knows who.

It really is senseless to work so hard from early morning till late at night, toiling to make a living for fear of not having enough. God can provide for his devoted lovers even while they sleep!

For man is nothing but a faint whisper, a mere breath. We spend our days like nothing more than a passing shadow.

Which one of us will live forever? We are all mortal, terminal, for we will all one day die. Which one of us would ever escape our appointment with death and dodge our own funeral? Pause in his presence

The benevolent man leaves an inheritance that endures to his children’s children, but the wealth of the wicked is treasured up for the righteous.

For no sooner do you start counting your wealth than it sprouts wings and flies away like an eagle in the sky— here today, gone tomorrow!

A man’s strength, power, and riches will one day fade away; not even nations endure forever.

Why spend your hard-earned money on something that can’t nourish you or work so hard for something that can’t satisfy? So listen carefully to me and you’ll enjoy a sumptuous feast, delighting in the finest of food.

So if worrying adds nothing, but actually subtracts from your life, why would you worry about God’s care of you?

I repeat: Don’t let worry enter your life. Live above the anxious cares about your personal needs.

We are to live as those who live in the world but are not absorbed by it, for the world as we know it is quickly passing away.

But you don’t have a clue what tomorrow may bring. For your fleeting life is but a warm breath of air that is visible in the cold only for a moment and then vanishes!

and your gold and silver are corroded as a witness against you. You have hoarded up treasure for the last days but it will become a fire to burn your flesh.

Human beings are frail and temporary, like grass, and the glory of man fleeting like blossoms of the field. The grass dries and withers and the flowers fall off,

Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.
