For in a visitation of the night you inspected my heart and refined my soul in fire until nothing vile was found in me. I will not sin with my words.

Yahweh tests both the righteous and the wicked. God’s very soul detests lovers of violence.

To live my life by your righteous rules has been my holy and lifelong commitment.

Lord, you know everything there is to know about me.

God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart. Examine me through and through; find out everything that may be hidden within me. Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares.

The way you counsel me makes me praise you more, for your whispers in the night give me wisdom, showing me what to do next.

Yahweh, you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you’ll find me true.

Here’s my life motto, the truth I live by: I will guard my ways for all my days. I will speak only what is right, guarding what I speak. Like a watchman guards against an attack of the enemy, I’ll guard and muzzle my mouth when the wicked are around me. I will remain silent and will not grumble or speak out of my disappointment. But the longer I’m silent, the more my pain grows worse!

O Lord, we have passed through your fire; like precious metal made pure, you’ve proved us, perfected us, and made us holy.

if I have wronged someone at peace with me, if I have betrayed a friend, repaying evil for good, or if I have unjustly harmed my enemy,

Guard your words and you’ll guard your life, but if you don’t control your tongue, it will ruin everything.

But as for me, Yahweh, you know me fully. You see me, and you understand me. You have tested my feelings for you and found that I am fully devoted to you. Set them aside like sheep that are going to be killed; keep them ready for the time of their slaughter.

I, Yahweh, declare that at that time, you may look for Israel’s guilt, but it will disappear, you may search for Judah’s sins, but you will not find them, for I will forgive the remnant whose lives I have spared.”

When he got there and witnessed for himself God’s marvelous grace, he was enthused and overjoyed. He encouraged the believers to remain faithful and cling to the Lord with passionate hearts.

While staying there Paul experienced a supernatural, ecstatic vision during the night. A man from Macedonia appeared before him, pleading with him, “You must come across the sea to Macedonia and help us!”

even though my conscience is clear. But that doesn’t mean I stand acquitted before the Lord, for the only judge I care about is him!

We rejoice in saying with complete honesty and a clear conscience that God has empowered us to conduct ourselves in a holy manner and with no hidden agenda. God’s marvelous grace enables us to minister to everyone with pure motives, not in the clever wisdom of the world. This is especially true in all of our dealings with you.

We all fail in many areas, but especially with our words. Yet if we’re able to bridle the words we say we are powerful enough to control ourselves in every way, and that means our character is mature and fully developed.

But these only reveal the sterling core of your faith, which is far more valuable than gold that perishes, for even gold is refined by fire. Your authentic faith will result in even more praise, glory, and honor when Jesus the Anointed One is revealed.
