Psalm 119:31

Lord, don’t allow me to make a mess of my life, for I cling to your commands and follow them as closely as I can.

Go away! Leave me, all you workers of wickedness, for you can’t stop me from following every command of my God.

I long for more revelation of your truth, for I love the light of your word as I meditate on your decrees.

Then I’ll never be ashamed, for I take strength from all your commandments.

Make me passionate and wholehearted to fulfill your every wish, so that I’ll never have to be ashamed of myself.

Be there for me, my God, for I keep trusting in you. Don’t allow my foes to gloat over me or the shame of defeat to overtake me.

Will you protect me from their power against me? I have taken shelter in you. Let it never be said that when I trusted you, you didn’t come to my rescue.

Embrace the truth and hold it close. Don’t let go of wisdom, instruction, and life-giving understanding.

But Yahweh saves Israel with everlasting salvation! You will not be put to shame nor disgraced for all eternity!

Kings will be their babysitters and queens their nursing mothers. With faces bowed to the ground, they will lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am Yahweh, and I will never disappoint those who entwine their hearts with mine.”

Let those who persecute me be ashamed, and don’t let me be disgraced; let them be the ones who are disheartened and not me. Bring on them the day of disaster, and shatter them with double destruction.

Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, “When you continue to embrace all that I teach, you prove that you are my true followers.

When he got there and witnessed for himself God’s marvelous grace, he was enthused and overjoyed. He encouraged the believers to remain faithful and cling to the Lord with passionate hearts.

And this hope is not a disappointing fantasy, because we can now experience the endless love of God cascading into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives in us!

And now, dear children, remain in him, so that when he is revealed we may have joyful confidence and not be ashamed when we stand before him at his appearing.
