I will silence those who secretly want to slander my friends, and I will not tolerate the proud and arrogant.

For though you are lofty and exalted, you stoop to embrace the lowly. Yet you keep your distance from those filled with pride.

They refuse to slander or insult others; they’ll never listen to gossip or rumors, nor would they ever harm a friend with their words.

To the humble you bring heaven’s deliverance, but the proud and haughty you disregard.

The one who hides his hatred while pretending to be your friend is nothing but a liar. But the one who slanders you behind your back proves that he’s a fool, never to be trusted.

A blabbermouth will reveal your secrets, so stay away from people who can’t keep their mouths shut.

Arrogance, superiority, and pride are the fruits of sin.

As the north wind brings a storm, saying things you shouldn’t brings a storm to any relationship.

There is a generation rising that is so filled with pride, they think they are superior and look down on others.

The arrogant will be humbled and the pride of man brought low. Only one will be exalted in that day: Yahweh!

In your city are those who slander in order to have someone murdered. Living among you are those who eat food sacrificed to false gods in mountain shrines and commit obscene acts.

And now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, extol, and glorify God, the King of heaven! All his works are right and true, and all his ways are right. He knows how to humble those who strut around in pride.”

“Which one of them left for home that day reconciled to God? The humble tax collector, not the religious leader! For everyone who praises himself will one day be publicly humiliated, and everyone who humbles himself will one day be publicly honored and lifted up.”

But now I’m writing to you so that you would exclude from your fellowship anyone who calls himself a fellow believer and practices sexual immorality, or is consumed with greed, or is an idolater, or is verbally abusive or a drunkard or a swindler. Don’t mingle with them or even have a meal with someone like that.

And the women also who serve the church should be dignified, faithful in all things, having their thoughts set on truth, and not known as those who gossip.

Likewise with the female elders, lead them into lives free from gossip and drunkenness and to be teachers of beautiful things.
