The Passion Translation

Lord, I know you see all that they’re doing, noting their each and every deed. You know the trouble and turmoil they’ve caused. Now punish them thoroughly for all that they’ve done! The poor and helpless ones trust in you, Lord, for you are famous for being the helper of the fatherless. I know you won’t let them down.

“Then he said, ‘Observe and note that all the male goats that are mating are speckled, streaked, or spotted, for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you.

You watch over strangers and immigrants and support the fatherless and widows. But you subvert the plans of the ungodly.

So don’t leave me now, for trouble is all around me, and there’s no one to help me.

You have kept me from being conquered by my enemy; you broke open the way to bring me to freedom, into a beautiful, broad place.

Yahweh, my caring God, you have been there all along. You have seen their hypocrisy. Yahweh, don’t let them get away with this. Don’t walk away without doing something.

So here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Leave all your cares and anxieties at the feet of the Lord, and measureless grace will strengthen you.

To the fatherless he is a father. To the widow he is a champion friend. The lonely he makes part of a family. The prisoners he leads into prosperity until they sing for joy. This is our Holy God in his Holy Place! But for the rebels there is heartache and despair.

The Lord champions the widow’s cause, but watch him as he smashes down the houses of the haughty!

The eyes of the Lord are everywhere and he takes note of everything that happens. He watches over his lovers, and he also sees the wickedness of the wicked.

What will come of you on your day of visitation when disaster comes from afar? To whom will you run for help? And what will you do then with all your great wealth?

For I see everything they do. They are not hidden from my presence, nor does their guilt escape my gaze.

Can anyone hide somewhere in secret where I do not see him?” declares Yahweh. “Is there anywhere in heaven or on earth where I am not present?” declares Yahweh.

‘Leave your orphans, I’ll take care of them; let your widows depend on me!’ ”

An enemy has come to destroy Babylon. They have captured Babylon’s soldiers and broken their bows into pieces. For Yahweh is a God of recompense; he never fails to repay.

Yahweh, you have seen the wrong done to me; judge in my favor.

You have seen their malice and all their hateful plots against me.

The confidence of my calling enables me to overcome every difficulty without shame, for I have an intimate revelation of this God. And my faith in him convinces me that he is more than able to keep all that I’ve placed in his hands safe and secure until the fullness of his appearing.

There is not one person who can hide their thoughts from God, for nothing that we do remains a secret, and nothing created is concealed, but everything is exposed and defenseless before his eyes, to whom we must render an account.

So then, those who suffer for following God’s will should enfold their lives into the Creator, who will never fail them, and continue to always do what is right.

Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.

Adoni-Bezek confessed, “I once had seventy kings picking up scraps under my table with their thumbs and big toes cut off. Now God has paid me back for what I did to them!” They took him captive to Jerusalem, where he died.
