So don’t even bother to correct a mocker, for he’ll only hate you for it. But go ahead and correct the wise; they’ll love you even more.

When one of your godly ones corrects me or one of your faithful ones rebukes me, I will accept it like an honor I cannot refuse. It will be as healing medicine that I swallow without an offended heart. Even if they are mistaken, I will continue to pray.

For the wise, these proverbs will make you even wiser, and for those with discernment, you will be able to acquire brilliant strategies for leadership.

The heart of the wise will easily accept instruction. But those who do all the talking are too busy to listen and learn. They’ll just keep stumbling ahead into the mess they created.

A wise son or daughter desires a father’s discipline, but the know-it-all never listens to correction.

Poverty and disgrace come to the one who refuses to hear criticism. But the one who is easy to correct is on the path of honor.

The know-it-all never esteems the one who tries to correct him. He refuses to seek good advice from the wise.

If you punish the insolent who don’t know any better, they will learn not to mock. But if you correct a wise man, he will grow even wiser.

Embrace the truth and hold it close. Don’t let go of wisdom, instruction, and life-giving understanding.

A rebellious fool will despise your wise advice, so don’t even waste your time—save your breath!

If you correct someone with constructive criticism, in the end he will appreciate it more than flattery.

Stubborn people who repeatedly refuse to accept correction will suddenly be broken and never recover.

But they were silent, and no one answered him a word, for King Hezekiah had ordered them, “Do not answer him.”

Stay away from them, for they’re nothing more than blind guides. Do you know what happens when a blind man pretends to guide another blind man? They both stumble into a ditch!”

“Who would hang earrings on a dog’s ear or throw pearls in front of wild pigs? They’ll only trample them under their feet and then turn around and tear you to pieces!
