So do not mock, or your bonds will grow tighter. For I have heard the decree from my Lord Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies. He spoke a decree of destruction against the whole land.
Lord, have you completely rejected Judah? Does your soul really despise Zion? Why have you crushed us so that we can’t be healed? We longed for peace and happiness, but nothing good ever came. We longed for a time of healing, and we find a time of terror instead.
I will punish all of you, your descendants, and your officials for all your blatant sins. You and the people of Judah and Jerusalem have not stopped to pay attention to any of my warnings. Therefore, I will pour out on all of you every disaster that I have pronounced against you.”
“I don’t refer to all of you when I tell you these things, for I know the ones I’ve chosen—to fulfill the Scripture that says, ‘The one who shared supper with me treacherously betrays me.’
“The one I give this piece of bread to after I’ve dipped it in the bowl,” Jesus replied. Then he dipped the piece of bread into the bowl and handed it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
For while some are saying, “Finally we have peace and security,” sudden destruction will arrive at their doorstep, like labor pains seizing a pregnant woman—and with no chance of escape!
