Words of wisdom flow from the one with true discernment. But to the heartless, words of wisdom become like rods beating their backside.

So which would you prefer? Shall I come carrying the rod of authority to discipline or with an embrace in love with a gentle spirit?

Since you are demanding proof that the Anointed One is speaking through me, I will give you proof by exercising discipline among you. For just as I told you the last time I was there—and now, though absent, I say it again—that when I come I will not go easy on those whom I’ve already warned and those who continue to persist in their sin. Christ is not weak or feeble in his dealings with you but mighty and powerful within you.

Since we are armed with such dynamic weaponry, we stand ready to punish any trace of rebellion, as soon as you choose complete obedience.

You can beat a fool half to death and still never beat the foolishness out of him.

Judgment is waiting for those who mock the truth, and foolish living invites a beating.

If you punish the insolent who don’t know any better, they will learn not to mock. But if you correct a wise man, he will grow even wiser.

One word of correction breaks open a teachable heart, but a fool can be corrected a hundred times and still not know what hit him.
