A drunkard is obnoxious, loud, and argumentative; you’re a fool to get intoxicated with strong drink.

Don’t live in the excesses of drunkenness or gluttony, or waste your life away by partying all the time,

For you are a king, Lemuel, and it’s never fitting for a king to be drunk on wine or for rulers to crave alcohol.

Moreover, the prophets and priests are drunk. They stagger because of wine and stumble around because of strong drink. They are confused with wine, stumbling because of strong drink. They’re too drunk to understand their prophetic visions. They’re too drunk to render right decisions in judgment.

Woe to those who start drinking early in the morning, lingering late into the night to get drunk with wine.

Woe to the champion wine drinkers who are heroes in mixing strong drinks—

Each one says, “Let’s get wine and liquor and have a party! And tomorrow, more of the same, except even better!”

fraud, greed, drunkenness, verbal abuse, or extortion—these will not inherit God’s kingdom realm.

being envious of the blessings of others, murder, uncontrolled addictions, wild parties, and all other similar behavior. Haven’t I already warned you that those who use their “freedom” for these things will not inherit the kingdom realm of God!

And don’t get drunk with wine, which is rebellion; instead be filled continually with the Holy Spirit.
